Estonia to mark the 100th anniversary of Finland, Lithuania, Poland, and Latvia with flag daysPublished: 27.11.2017

The Government of the Republic has decided that Estonia will mark the 100th anniversary of the independence of Finland, Lithuania, Poland, and Latvia respectively with official flag days, when the Estonian flag will be raised to highlight the anniversaries of our neighbours.

To highlight the anniversaries of Finland, Lithuania, Poland and Latvia, state and local government authorities and legal persons governed by public law must raise the Estonian flag on 6 December of this year to mark the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Finland; on 16 February 2018 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Lithuania; on 11 November 2018 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Poland; and on 18 November 2018 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Latvia. All people living in Estonia are expected to raise the Estonian flag in celebration of the occasion.

The Estonian flag shall be raised at dawn or by 08.00 at the latest and shall be lowered at sunset or by 22.00 at the latest. Flags are to be raised on all empty flag poles and placed in all empty flag holders belonging to authorities.
