The film ‘Truth and Justice’ to premiere in the Estonia 100 film programmePublished: 20.02.2019

The feature film dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia, ‘Truth and Justice’, will be premiered today, on 20 February. The screening by director Tanel Toom also marks the end of the Estonia 100 film programme. The film is released in cinemas across Estonia on 22 February.

According to Jaanus Rohumaa, Head of the Organising Committee of Estonia 100 at the Government Office, this masterpiece created on the basis of the works of a beloved Estonian writer is perfect to conclude the Estonia 100 film programme. ‘Films created for the centenary have been phenomenally successful, yet no feature film has ever been awaited with more excitement than this one. Even though we’ll be travelling back in time in the film, I am sure that people are also able to capture something truly characteristic of a modern Estonian,’ Rohumaa added.

‘We with the film crew have done our job – it only remains to be seen how the film is received. Let’s hope for the best,’ said Ivo Felt, the producer of the film.

The new and relentless master of Vargamäe must wrestle with hard work, a bullying neighbour and his own beliefs to turn his fallow and shoddy land fruitful. And to make truth and justice prevail in this godforsaken place.
The movie stars Priit Loog, Priit Võigemast, Maiken Schmidt, Simeoni Sundja and Ester Kuntu. The writer and director of ‘Truth and Justice’ is Tanel Toom, the director of photography is Rein Kotov, the production designer is Jaagup Roomet and the producer is Ivo Felt.
The film was produced for the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia. Production of the film was also supported by the entrepreneur Armin Karu and cooperating partners Auto Forte and Jetoil.
A total of five feature films, a full-length animation, two documentaries and a TV series were produced for the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia. You can find additional information about the Estonia 100 film programme here.
