Hortus Musicus concert in Rome finished the Estonia 100 international programmePublished: 03.01.2019

More than 500 events in more than 35 countries around the world took place under the Estonia 100 international programme. The international programme started with the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in July 2017 and lasted until 31 December 2018. The last concert was given by the renowned Estonian early music ensemble Hortus Musicus in the Church of Santa Maria in Campitelli in Rome.

The concert of Hortus Musicus concluded the Estonia in Musica 2018 series, which took place in the festival ‘The Music Festival of the Nations’. The concert was organised by the Italia Estonia Society in cooperation with Concerti del Tempietto, Conservatory of Santa Cecilia and Eesti Kontsert. The audience got to enjoy music of both Estonian - Pärt, Kaumann - and Italian composers - Marini, Monteverdi, Gabrieli.

Previously, the series has included pianists Mihkel Poll and Kristi Kapten, singer Siiri Sisask, lied-duo Ksenia Kuchukova and Helin Kapten and fantasy instrument player Silver Sepp. The concerts have featured works by Kõrvits, Sumera, Tubin and many other Estonian composers.
