New Year’s Eve will bring a celebration 'Full Speed Ahead, Estonia!'Published: 05.12.2018

On 31 December, the 100th anniversary year of the Republic of Estonia will end with the New Year's Eve celebration 'Full Speed Ahead, Estonia!' in Estonian county centres. The joint anniversary celebration will be held concurrently in 15 cities across Estonia.

“People will remember 2018 as the year of extraordinary events. Inspired by this, we will organise a final joint anniversary celebration, 'Full Speed Ahead, Estonia!', on 31 December on Estonian town squares,” said Maarja-Liisa Soe, Head of Programme of Estonia 100. “The final anniversary celebration will be held concurrently in fifteen cities across Estonia, starting off the next hundred years of our homeland.”

According to Maarja-Liisa Soe, Head of Programme of Estonia 100, this joint New Year’s Eve celebration in several cities of Estonia is a unique event. “There has never been this kind of concurrent celebration on Estonian town squares, which makes this present from our cities even more suitable to end the incredibly successful 100th anniversary of Estonia,” she added.

The joint celebration to end the anniversary year will be held concurrently in 15 cities across Estonia: in Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu, Narva, Rakvere, Jõhvi, Jõgeva, Paide, Kuressaare, Kärdla, Võru, Valga, Põlva, Rapla, and Haapsalu.

The final anniversary celebration will begin at 11 p.m. at the latest in all cities that participate in the joint gift. “Each city will prepare a program to end the anniversary year in a festive manner,” said Maarja-Liisa Soe. “The lists of performers are still pending, but we can guarantee that beloved artists will perform that night on stages all across Estonia.” Lists of performers will be made public on 10 December.

The nationwide final celebration of Estonia 100 is brought to you by Estonia 100 in cooperation with the cities of Tallinn, Pärnu, Narva, Rakvere, Jõhvi, Jõgeva, Paide, Kuressaare, Kärdla, Võru, Valga, Põlva, Rapla, and Haapsalu.

During the day of 31 December, the last joint dance of the Estonia 100’s initiative 'Dancing Estonia' will be performed on town squares across Estonia in honour of the end of the anniversary. The public event 'Dancing Estonia' will be held concurrently on 31 December at 3 p.m. on 16 town squares across Estonia: Tallinn, Tartu, Pärnu, Narva, Rakvere, Viljandi, Jõhvi, Jõgeva, Paide, Kuressaare, Kärdla, Võru, Valga, Põlva, Rapla, and Haapsalu. Steps will be taught to all participants on town squares at 2 p.m.
