On February 23 at 8 PM Tartu Folklore Club Maatasa will gather in Tiigi Seltsimaja to celebrate Estonia's 100th birthday!
To celebrate such an important date properly, we are bringing to life the time when it all started - the year 1918. Music, dances and special guests fill the evening and at midnight we will welcome the new year together.
Musicians play both Estonian folk music and salon music, the café is open and at the photo corner our photographer is prepared to take stylish photographs of everyone.
Since it is a theme party, we kindly ask you to follow the fashion of the time. Traditional costumes or classic black and white will work too. If possible, please let us know if you are coming.
Ticket: 2 € (sold at the door)
Tartu Folklore Club Maatasa gathers young people aged 14-26 whose goal is to introduce the folklore on Southern Estonia. Their repertoire consists of dances, songs, instrumental tunes and old folk takes from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. Maatasa started a new festival in Estonia - Tartu Youth Folklore Festival, which takes place every autumn and brings together folklore groups from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. In 2018 Maatasa was chosen as the representative folklore group of Tartu for the third time in a row. http://maatasa.webs.com/
