Although we are among the smaller European nations with just over six million inhabitants, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have not only produced many well-known conductors, instrumentalists and singers, but also three contemporary choral music cultures that have found international acclaim in recent decades. 100 years ago, the three countries declared their hard-won independence. To mark this occasion, the Konzerthaus in Berlin is opening the doors and halls for the ten-day Baltic Festival! 16 and 18 February – Chief conductor Iván Fischer and the Konzerthausorchester will dedicate an entire programme to Arvo Pärt 16 February – Maarja Nuut, poetic solo-program “Une meeles” 19 February – The film about Arvo Pärt “The Lost Paradise” will be screened. This is the first international documentary about Arvo Pärt.
