The Estonia 100 film program is set to begin | EV100

“The Estonia 100 film program is the centenary project of Estonian film, which will bring numerous new works to movie theatres in a relatively short period of time,” Edith Sepp, director of the Estonian Film Institute said. “At the premiere, clips of the films in production for Estonia’s centenary will be shown for the first time and the films’ directors will also be present.”

Films that make up Estonia 100’s film program are  “Seltsimees laps” (Comrade Child), “Võta või jäta” (Take It or Leave It), “Põrgu Jaan” (The Riddle of Jaan Niemand), “Eia jõulud Tondikakul” (Eia’s Christmas at Phantom Owl Farm), “Tõde ja õigus” (Truth and Justice), the full-length animated film “Lotte ja kadunud lohed” (Lotte and Lost Dragons), the documentaries “Juured” (Roots) and “Tuulte tahutud maa” (Wind Sculpted Land), the TV series “Pank” (The Bank) and the short documentary series “Leiutades Eestit” (Inventing Estonia).

“The film program was the first which the Estonia 100 program began preparing. It is also one of the most significant areas of the entire Estonia 100 program”, Maarja-Liisa Soe, Head of the Estonia 100 program at the Government Office said. “Preparations for the film program have had an impact on the entire Estonian film industry, since a significant part of our film industry is involved in the production of the films.”

The films created for Estonia 100 will arrive in theatres during the period from March 2018 to February 2019. Estonian Television will broadcast the TV series “The Bank” in the fall of 2018 and the documentary series “Inventing Estonia” is running on ETV as of the fall of 2017.
