Go Europe | EV100

From Lisbon to TallinnAn idea, its realisation and European encountersCarsten Witt and his son Jakob have embarked upon a European journey early November 2017. Its goal: Tallinn. They are expected to arrive there at the end of October 2018. Both are on their way in the true sense of the word. Carsten is walking on foot, Jakob is cycling. Their routes are also different. While the father is trekking through the western countries, the son has made a bee-line east to Lisbon.Speed and physical abilities are limited – the opportunities for personal encounters and to experience nature are not. Neither of them are trekking or cycling on the motorway, but both of them are following the same constructive-minded track: What do we have to do in all European countries, cities and municipalities, as citizens, to intensify a peaceful and sustainable Europe through exciting and multifaceted partnership with our neighbouring countries?Personal exchange on expectations & disappointments, problems & solutions, established & new ideas can draw us closer to the answers to these great challenges. The initiative Go Europe! wants to contribute to this. This is why Carsten and Jakob are moving slowly through nearly all European countries, always in conversation with people they usually meet by chance. But sometimes they are being expected at their next stop. The channels of communication are short nowadays – especially when there is something “extraordinary” to be reported. Go Europe! will present a public account of this unusual journey in persona, with pictures, texts and music in the Estonian capital at the end of October.

By the way: Estonia and Tallinn have been part of this journey right from the very beginning. Where will the journey lead? you’d like to know. Of course you will find out all about the cultural diverse and colourful Estonia.

Estonia 100 art programme introduces the Muslim community of Estonia | EV100

According to the organisers of the exhibition, social groups that differ from the general population are a good mirror for the whole of society. Thus, the exposition provides an opportunity to look at oneself and the community of Islamic people who have existed in Estonia for centuries, to gain knowledge about its stratification and formation in relation to migration culture.

See the photo gallery of the opening of the exhibition here.

‘By fearing the many influences of the world that reach us in our homes, we can see what we want in the mirror and around us, as opposed to seeing what is actually there,’ believes the photographer Annika Haas. She adds: ‘The purpose of this art project is to bring Estonians and the Muslim community closer to each other, so that we understand different sides of people’s personal stories and their connection to Estonia.’

Muslims have been living in Estonia since the 16th century, and the artist says they’ve therefore had a place and role in our society for a long time.

‘And so, my current exhibition looks into the formation story of the local Islamic community, as well as their part in the history of diversity in Estonia,’ notes Haas.

Combining photography, video and sound art, the project has built up a narrative from historical material to contemporary collected stories. The verbal hints to the visual, but leaves room for the viewer to ponder and form their own opinion.

The exhibition ‘Anatomy of the Estonian Muslim Community’ was born in cooperation between the Estonian Islamic Centre and the Estonian Refugee Council. The author of the exhibitions is Annika Haas and the designer Katri Haarde.

The exhibition in the lobby gallery of the National Library of Estonia is open until 26 February.

The Estonia 100 and Centre for Contemporary Arts Estonia joint project ’Travellers and Settlers’ was sponsored by Cultural Endowment of Estonia, Ahti Heinla, Jaanus Juss and Telliskivi Creative City, and Digiprint. Valge Kuup, Digifoto, Digiprint, Overall Eesti, 4Room, Valgusklubi and Elo Liiv, videoID and Kaisa Sammelselg, Senza Fine and Arno Mikkor, and Viktor Gurov contributed to the design.

Exhibition “Wild Souls. Symbolism in the Art of the Baltic States” in Kumu | EV100

Almost 150 works by notable artists from the art history of the Baltic countries dating from the late 19thcentury to the 1930s are included in the exhibition. On view are works by Janis Rozentāls, Vilhelms Purvītis, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, Kristjan Raud, Nikolai Triik, Konrad Mägi, Oskar Kallis and many other great names of Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian art from the collections of four Baltic museums: the Latvian National Museum of Art, Art Museum of Estonia, Lithuanian Art Museum and M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art.

The exhibition reveals the specific features of early 20th-century Baltic Symbolism. The local young artists set out to discover the contemporary art movements in Europe, but also had aspirations to help create their own national identities. Their art often intertwines the international artistic idiom with local folk art and symbols of oral heritage. The idea of creative freedom was brought from Western Europe, along with the belief in the ability of art to express the spiritual levels hidden in people.

The exhibition is accompanied by a voluminous catalogue in Estonian and English. This is the first exhaustive treatment of Baltic Symbolism, which is introduced by Rodolphe Rapetti’s essay “Terra incognita”. Rapetti’s essay is motivated by a desire to introduce the works of the artists from the Baltic countries, which the author considers to be unique in the international context of Symbolism, to the broader art public of Western Europe.

Wild Souls. Symbolism in the Art of the Baltic States has received a grant from Estonia’s Ministry of Culture and it is part of the international cultural programme celebrating the centenary of the Republic of Estonia. The exhibition was initially on display at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris from April to mid-July of this year. Almost 250,000 people visited the exhibition.

VAATA: EV100 teledraama sai esimese ametliku treileri | EV100

Osaliselt tõestisündinud lool põhineva sarja autoriteks on Eero Epner ja Tarmo Jüristo. Sarja võtted algasid sel suvel.

Seriaal asetab fookusesse ühe riigi, kahe panga ja terve rea inimeste võidud ning kaotused. Kümne tunni jooksul rullub vaatajate ees lahti draama 1990ndate Eestist: spetsiifilisest ajajärgust, mis jättis kõigisse jälje − kellesse haava, kellesse jumaliku käepuudutuse.

Seriaal jõuab eetrisse 2018. aasta septembris ERR-is.

Miks just «Pank»?

  • «39/40» – stsenarist Tiit Aleksejev, režissöör Elmo Nüganen, produtsent Kristian Taska;
  • «Arabella» – stsenarist Lauri Lippmaa, produtsent Anneli Ahven
  • «Jaik» – stsenaristid Juhan Raud ja Laura Raud, režissöör Peeter Jalakas, produtsendid Peeter Jalakas ja Ivo Felt.

Arendustaotlusi hindasid ekspertkomisjonis EV100 juhtrühma liige Margus Kasterpalu, ERR-i tollane meelelahutussaadete toimetuse juhataja Mart Normet, Cinamon Holdingi kommertsdirektor Toomas Luhats, filmikriitik Tristan Priimägi ning Eesti Filmi Instituudi esindajad Edith Sepp, Piret Tibbo-Hudgins ja Endel Koplimets.

„EV100 filmiprogrammil on suurepäraselt läinud ning jõulukuul lisandub programmi järgmise pärlina teos „Eia jõulud Tondikakul”,” sõnas Riigikantselei EV100 programmi juht Maarja-Liisa Soe.

Vabadussõja 100. aastapäeva puhul avatakse Kehra lahingu mälestussammas | EV100

Anija vallavanema Arvi Karotami sõnul on olulise sümboli valmimisse panustanud väga paljud. „Heade inimeste toel on lõpuks valminud vääriline mälestussammas Vabadussõja esimese võiduka pöördelahingu meenutamiseks. Väärikas 6,5-meetrine taastatud sammas on nüüd kõigile Kehra inimestele, linna külastajatele ja ka rongiga möödasõitjaile nähtav,” lisas Karotam.

Mälestussamba kavand valmis skulptor Ernst Jõesaarel juba 1930. aastate lõpus. Kaitseliidu algatusel ja toel püstitatud mälestussammas pidi avatama 23. juunil 1940. Alanud sõja tõttu jäi sammas ametlikult avamata ja 6,5 meetri kõrgune graniitsammas lasti Nõukogude vägede poolt õhku.

6. jaanuaril kell 11 toimub Harjumaal Lahinguvälja raudteejaama juures soomusrong nr 7 „Wabadus“ osalusel näidislahing, millele järgneb Vabadussõja Kehra mälestussamba avamine. Kõnedega esinevad Eesti Vabariigi president Kersti Kaljulaid, kaitseminister Jüri Luik, Kaitseväe juhataja kindralmajor Martin Herem ja Anija vallavanem Arvi Karotam. Mälestussambale annab oma õnnistuse Kaitseväe peakaplan Gustav Kutsar.

Lahinguväljal süütavad võidutule Kaitseliidu Harju Maleva pealikud. Samba avamistseremoonia orienteeruv kestus on 50 minutit, sellest lahingu taaslavastus kestab 25 minutit.

Samuti liigub mööda Eestit soomusrong nr 7 „Wabadus“. Lisainfo „Wabaduse teekonna“ sündmuste ja soomusrongi sõiduplaani kohta www.EV100.ee

Eesti Vabariigi 100. aastapäeva tähistamise periood kestab kuni 2020. aasta 2. veebruarini, kui möödub 100 aastat Tartu rahulepingu sõlmimisest. 2019. aastal keskenduvad sündmused Eesti Vabadussõja 100. aastapäevale.
